Meet our dedicated healthcare professionals.
My motivation to study osteopathy came from a desire to help people live their best lives.
Matthew has completed extensive education with many years of experience. He is committed to helping patients feel their best with injury management and quality living at the core of Matthew’s practice.

Originally from the picturesque coastal town of Kaikoura, I made the move to Christchurch to dive deeper into the study of osteopathy. My passion for osteopathy was sparked by a personal experience. After a sports injury, I found remarkable relief thanks to a skilled osteopath in my hometown. That moment ignited a fascination with the human body and its ability to self-heal.
In my osteopathy sessions, I blend a variety of structural techniques designed to enhance tissue repair, ease pain, and restore joint mobility. I have a special interest in sports injuries, headaches, and back pain, although I enjoy treating all aches and pains in patients of any age.
My interests outside of osteopathy include going for scenic walks, weightlifting, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.

After completing a diploma in Sport and Exercise Science in 2012, Matthew worked as a personal trainer before progressing through to strength and conditioning for rowing teams. From here he advanced to an Olympic weightlifting coach. Matthew subsequently completed a certificate in therapeutic massage in 2019 through the Wellington School of Massage Therapy. Working as a massage therapist inspired him to want to offer more which led to pursuing a career in osteopathy.
Matthew enjoys working with all individuals from acute injury management to persistent / chronic pain. Matthew understands the importance of keeping people involved in what they are passionate about and believes an interdisciplinary approach is often useful. Matthew's sessions are tailored to your needs and incorporate a balance of manual therapy, education, and home exercises to help empower you on your rehabilitation journey.
Outside of working at Koru Wellness on Monday and Thursday, Matthew owns a physiotherapy practice with his wife. He enjoys keeping fit through functional movements, and loves spending time with his wife and two young children.

Julia Carlé is experienced and committed to improving the health and well-being of her patients. Since training at the British School of Osteopathy, she has developed a reputation for providing personalised care and effective treatment.
Julia's journey to becoming an osteopath has been shaped by her personal experience with breast cancer. Having gone through extensive treatment, Julia brings a unique perspective to her practice and a deep understanding of the physical and emotional challenges that come with it.
With a special interest in women's health, particularly post breast cancer treatment, Julia believes in taking a holistic approach to treatment.
She works closely with patients of all ages, including babies, to develop individualised and comprehensive plans that address their unique needs and concerns. Her gentle and compassionate approach has earned her a loyal patient following.
In addition to working with patients, Julia is a dedicated educator and supervisor at Te Pukenga / Ara Student Osteopathic clinic. When not treating patients or working with students, you can find her behind the sewing machine. She is a (average at best!) seamstress and enjoys creating clothing for her family. She is a devoted mother to two boys and understands the challenges of balancing work and family life.
Whether you are seeking relief from pain or want to improve your overall health and well-being, Julia is here to help.

My motivation to study osteopathy came from a desire to help people live their best lives. This led me to complete a Bachelor of Musculoskeletal Health and Post Graduate Diploma in Osteopathy.
Previously I studied a range of therapeutic techniques which continue to help improve the lives of my patients. This included CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute.
Presently, I am studying to be an Equine Osteopath through Animal Osteopathy International which I hope to complete in 2025.
I specialise in the very gentle, intuitive, energetic techniques which work with the body’s incredible ability to self-heal. This is one of the four principles of osteopathy and is why the impact of osteopathy on quality of life can be truly remarkable.
I live in Christchurch with my husband where we raised our four children – who will always be our greatest accomplishment. When I’m not assisting my patients, I choose to be with my horses or out enjoying nature.
